Grieving your best friend

GRIEVING YOUR BEST FRIEND

This image was taken 9 years ago at my parents acreage near Cold Lake, Alberta... our two family Weimaraners were the first dogs I photographed, and they were my muse... when they passed 3 years ago, I was devastated. Obviously, it had to happen. They both lived very long and happy lives, but it didn't make it any easier. I still think about them daily and remember our 16 years together. I always They shaped who I am today.

Yes I did say 16 years! A weimer's lifespan is roughly 11-13 and both our pups lived past that. I would often joke that they were past their 'expiry date'. We were very lucky to have them in our lives for so long.

Knowing that your time is limited with your best friend is hard.

End of Life sessions are hard, but know that these sessions are to remember the beautiful soul that graced our lives with unwavering love.

They are worth remembering.

When your dogs pass...

I cry for them to.

If we have only worked together once or many times... I cry for their passing, because I know every dog I have ever photographed has changed lives.

This year my End of Life sessions have tripled, and honestly, I feel blessed. Thank you for letting me capture your best friend and allowing me to be a part of a very intimate time in your life. Thank you 💕
